Michelin Star-winning chef Michael Caines said, “A chef without a restaurant is like an artist without a gallery.”
I couldn’t agree more. Authenticity is something all customers look for because it gives them confidence in whatever they are buying, knowing it is the real deal.
Today, you don’t have to look far to find so-called experts falling over each other advising you to do things that they are not willing or able to do themselves.
I’m a big believer in authenticity. And it is the foundation of what I share with you here in OSA. I’m upfront about that fact. Nobody matches my relevant experience in what I teach. Because of the very fact it is based on my authentic experience.
I know what it takes to maximise dispense values because I have grown mine to £1000+. I know what it takes to build a business that functions without you in it every day because that is what I have done. I can share successful strategies and processes for business growth because I have built them from the ground up myself. And I am in it doing it every week. I have my own restaurant. I eat my own cooking.
The world is full of people who DON’T eat their own cooking. The fund manager who sells his funds to the customer but invests his own money elsewhere. The marketing consultant who has never invested a penny of his own money in marketing. The expert optician who tells you how to grow your practice but who conveniently doesn’t have a successful practice of their own.
These people will sell you the theory all day long. But have they done it? And if it’s such good advice why are they not doing it themselves? They get a tastier meal elsewhere while their customers munch on gristle.
Authenticity is something of real value. It is something to always be on the look-out for when taking advice. And it is the thing you should strive to deliver to your own customers.
If you want to get your customers excited about eyewear and your practice, you first have to get your team authentically excited too. To help a customer invest in stylish eyewear, the person doing the advising needs to be passionate about what they do and they need to be wearing great looking eyewear themselves.
Without authenticity, without eating your own cooking, any success will be short-lived.
